-Itinerary-

  • Day 1: We'll pick you up at your accommodation in Reykjavik, and we'll head for the Kerlingarfjöll mountain range, visiting some less-known locations around the 'Golden Circle' on the way. We will overnight at the Highland Base, the only hotel resort in the highlands of Iceland.

  • Day 2: After breakfast, we'll head to Hveravellir, a geothermal paradise with unreal colors where you can take a dip in its warm geothermal waters if you wish. Then we'll exit the highlands and head to north Iceland. We will visit Grafarkirkja, the oldest church in Iceland, before making our way to Akureyri for the night.

  • Day 3: On this day, we will visit the so-called Diamond Circle (Goðafoss, Húsavík, Dettifoss, Ásbyrgi) and Lake Mývatn, a geothermal lake surrounded by countless interesting sights. We'll return to Akureyri at the end of the day.

  • Day 4: Time to head back into the highlands. It won't be a long drive until we reach Aldeyjarfoss waterfall, known for its stunning basalt columns. We'll also explore its neighbor, Hrafnabjargafoss. Then, it's time to cross Iceland through Sprengisandur, a beautiful volcanic desert that will make you feel like you're stepping onto a different planet. We'll check into The Highland Center Hrauneyjar for the next two nights.

  • Day 5: On this day, we'll embark on our popular Hidden Highlands tour. We'll visit the third-highest waterfall in the country, the beautiful oasis of Gjáin, and the fantasy-like Sigöldugljúfur, among others. We'll return to The Highland Center Hrauneyjar for the night.

  • Day 6: It's time to venture deep into the highlands. Our first stop of the day is Bláhylur, a beautiful crater lake with insanely blue water. After some river crossings, we'll enter Landmannalaugar, a vast mountain range of stunning and unique beauty in the heart of the Highlands. Once we've had our fill of its geothermal beauty, we'll follow the F208 road or Fjallabaksleið Nyrðri, considered the most scenic drive in Iceland. We'll stay overnight in the charming town of Kirkjubæjarklaustur.

  • Day 7: We head straight back into the highlands to visit one of our guide's favorites, the majestic Maelifell volcano—a towering mountain covered with lush green moss, standing alone against a vast black sand desert. We'll then drive the scenic F210 road (Fjallabaksleið Syðri) to reach our spot for the night, at the skirts of the infamous Hekla volcano.

  • Day 8: We leave early to take the ferry to Vestmannaeyjar. After the scenic ferry ride, we'll enjoy the company of the thousands of puffins that visit the islands every summer. We'll also learn more about the volcanic origin of these islands while savoring the stunning seascape. Later, we'll take the ferry back, and once we're back on land, we'll make our way to Reykjavik, where we'll drop you off at your accommodation.
